Well, I gave this camera a 5, but I've never actually used it. I have Win2K, and every time i try to install the beta drivers, I get a blue screen saying my computer came across something unexpected trying to use "Icam4USB.sys". So i found a way around it to install it okay, but when i plug the camera in, whammo! same critical error. For a while, Win2K wouldn't even boot, not even in safe mode. This camera has a lot of high-quality features compared to other cameras out there, so I think if it worked, it'd be great. Please email me if you can give me advice, thanks! If you have Win9x, try this camera!

Works ok with Win9x, but with the increased use of the internet and telecons on w3 based platforms like Win2K and Linux the lack of drivers is a pain.

Intel can't hire enough NT/Win2K programmers to create a driver?

Waste of money for real web camming (but a good product if you stick it out with Win9x and the bugs).

Still waiting though since money is hard to come by.

I have a intel create & Share I installed it on my gateway 200 pentium pro could not get it to work right. I contacted to tech support after 2 hours on my dime they said it must be my computer. I have changed computers I have a AMD 800 mhz system I tried to load it on this this system the first thing i get is the system is not compatable or some thing like that. So i guess if you don't have the intel sticker on your computer you can't use intel parts. I don't think I'll be buying much intel anymore. I'm very disapponted with intel the poor fellows can't even afford a toll free tech line. Its no wonder AMD is pushing them out of the market.

Sincerely

John Kenney

Don't be fooled by the term "Pro". This camera works great under Win9x, however lack of Win2K support is a serious oversight on Intel's behalf.

Intel doesn't acknowledge the U in USB stands for Universal, making this a difficult camera to recommend for anything other than "Non-Pro" home use.

Loved it! Only it produces blue horizontal line when hooked up with a HandyCam.

I bought the Pro Pack about March 2000 and have not been very satisfied. I payed extra bucks for a video capture feature which has never worked well at all on my pc and in fact does not work at all anymore. The pictures from the camera are full of blue horizontal lines which I assume are due the fact that my vid card(Viper V550, latest drivers)does not work well with the camera. Intel's online troubleshooter sucks. I haven't asked them for help, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get a fix from them anyway. If anyone who is having trouble with the software and the camera *after* re-installing, then be sure to check for "ghost devices" in Safe Mode and remove them first then re-install.

Very good image quality, so far I'm quite happy with the product. Software is easy to use and configure, and the various effects you can adjust are handy: flip, mirror, contrast/brightness, pan/tilt, etc.

Impressive results in low-light conditions, better than I expected. No compatibility issues noticed with Asus P2B motherboard & USB chipset.

I bought the cheaper version called Interl Pc Camera Pack. Its just like the Pro, but with no video input on the back. It cost only $79 plus theres a $10 rebate so only $69! Its A Great camera, really easy to use. The post card feature is great! Also you can make avi files every easy, but it has a limit of 12 megs.. Only thing I didnt like about the software was it didnt include Cu-See me which allot of other cameras do. And its Hard to find other people to use the camera with, both the intel video phone and Microsoft netmeeting do not have any way to find people that have your same interests. Thats why CU-See me software is cool. You can talk to people you dont know..

I have been shuffled back and forth between Intel (who's support is not toll free) and Dell-- each blaming the other. I just want this thing to work. I get thru most of the initial testing but get stuck when I hit "next" after the modem test. I am told the next stage is a video test but never see the screen. It stay on the "next" button I have pushed until it times out. PLEASE HELP ME!

I *finally* got my pc to recognize the device but everytime I use it the pc locks up. Piece of junk! I think the problem may be in the USB controller driver. Intel's 'support' is laughable!

I'm having trouble getting the camera to work with my usb ports.

I have two computers with the FIC VA-503+ motherboard. one with a pentium 200mmx and the other with a k62-450. The camera keeps locking up on both machines. I suspect it the usb ports on the mother board. Anyone have any info on this. I installed all the latest chipset drivers on the web that I can find but no luck.

Love this camera! Very easy to setup. Great quality. Had problems with the video conferencing but it was a problem with my ISP and not the camera.

This is a great product. The camera takes very high quality pictures and I was very impressed with the quality of the software. The intel video phone works great and it even allows me to place high speed calls with my DSL line. The Intel Pro Pack also allowed me to capture some video off a vcr tape so I could post it to my web page. Installation was a snap and I've never even looked at the manual. It's very well designed and works great on my 450Mz Pentium III. Only $99 after rebate. I've used many cameras and Intel's has been the best by far.

This review is as of 12/17/99, so stop back sometime in the future, but thus far I am entirely unhappy with my Intel Pro Pack. Intel will not provide reasonable service for their product at this point, and I'm ready to just purchase another USB product. The initial "Configuration" screen locked after entering information minimal information for their product, and their documentation did steer me to HP, where I found downloadable sound card driver update information which allowed me to get past the freeze, but then I encountered repeated "Unknown Device" setup in Device Manager, which I felt was due to incorrect drivers. This was addressed in Intel by CS430 Camera Updates found on the Intel site, but this has not corrected the problem. Intel is very slow in their e-mail responses to concerns, and they attempt the deferrment of THEIR problem to anyone else, which in my case happens to be HP. They also have a 2-day response, which in the case of a question on Thursday means they feel they have no need to answer til Monday (though I would not be surprised if it's longer than that.) They (or at least the people I have thus far dealt with) feel no need to help a customer in a more timely manner. I am unhappy with Intel.
